Larimar, also called “Atlantis Stone”, is a rare blue variety of the silicate mineral pectolite found only in the Dominican Republic, in the Caribbean. Larimar is a volcanic stone, the result of volcanic activity that occurred millions of years ago! The colours can vary from white, light-blue, green-blue to deep blue.

It was first discovered in Greenland in the 19th century. Nowadays, it can also be found in Portugal, Brazil, Bolivia, Canada, Russia, Australia, Tanzania, and China. Rare kinds of Sodalite have also been found in Namibia and in Vesuvius, Italy.
