Found in just one place on earth, tanzanite is a relatively recent discovery. It was first unearthed in Tanzania in 1967. Because the crystals show different colours depending on the viewing direction, cutters can fashion gems with a range of colour from violetish blue to bluish violet. Tanzanite is a birthstone for December.

A beautiful representation of the gorgeous violet colour that is so typical for Tanzanite! The faceted beads (5.5mm beads gradually going down to 3mm) are combined with 2mm faceted Tanzanite in between. I finished the necklace with a rhodium coated 925 Sterling Silver lobster clasp. Length 41.7cm
