Item 374NP Freshwater Pearl with Sunstone

57,00 incl. BTW

I love this necklace because of the combination of the Freshwater Pearl, the Oregon Sunstone and the Crazy Lace Agate Cabochon stone in the pendant (2.8x3cm) . The beads are all 4mm combined with 925 black patinated Sterling Silver beads. The necklace is made with a 925 Sterling Silver lobster clasp and is 48cm long.

Freshwater pearls come from oysters that mature in non-saline water (from lakes or ponds, as opposed to saltwater from the sea). Freshwater pearls usually are not as round as saltwater pearls and therefore less expensive. Also freshwater mussels are larger and can thus produce more pearls at a time than saltwater oysters. As a result, freshwater pearls are more abundant and that is another reason why they are less expensive.  Although most freshwater pearl information lists several areas of the world (for example USA and Japan) as home to pearl-producing mussels, the global freshwater market is overwhelmingly dominated by Chinese pearl farms, which account for nearly all freshwater pearls sold today.

Sunstone is a feldspar crystalThe meaning of this stones name relates to the fact that these crystals have lovely sparking inclusions distributed through the stone. It includes Hematite and Goethite which help it to refract light and creates iridescence when viewed from different angles. Often found in warm shades of orange, gold, red and brown and with a translucent look. Sunstone is believed to help overcome phobia and mental problems such as depression. It helps transform negativities into positive energy.  Deposits of this stone have been found in Norway, Greece, Russia, India, Canada and the USA.
