Pink Spinel stones are loved for their charming pink hues ranging from violetish pink to light pink, neon pink, pale pink, and deep pink. Astrologically, it is regarded as the stone of compassion and is worn to balance the Heart Chakra. Most of the spinels of a “ruby-red colour” are produced from alluvial deposits in Sri Lanka, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar, and other countries. Other countries where spinel is mined include: Afghanistan, Nepal, Tajikistan, Australia, Madagascar, Nigeria, and Tanzania. While August’s newly designated official birthstone is widely recognized in its deep red variety, spinel is also available in a wide range of colours. Pure spinel is colorless, but impurities give rise to a spectrum of choices, from peach, pink and red to green, blue and purple.
Spinel comes in many shades from transparent (colourless) to shades of pink, red, blue, yellow, green, brown and black. It brings the mind stability and happiness and reduces the symptoms of depression and harmonises the structure of chakras by healing them along the spine thus named as spinel. Black spinel is highly reflective and does not feature the same metallic overtone that many other black stones do. It’s a gorgeous deep black in appearance. They are widely found in the areas of Vietnam, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Tanzania and Tajikistan.
