The most obvious property and the reason for the use as a gemstone in the Red and Brown Tigereye is the silky shine that can be seen in polished, and especially in tumbled and cabochon-cut stones. All “eyes” show a wavy pattern of parallel lines that seem to move when the stone is turned. Tiger’s Eye is a quartz, and is often found near iron deposits primarily in South Africa. It is the iron within the quartz that gives Tiger’s Eye its unique coloring of golden yellows, coppers, and browns. Most tiger’s eye and hawk’s eye comes from the Asbestos Mountains near Griquatown, South Africa. The Red Tiger eye is found in Canada, Brazil, Namibia India and South Africa. Its focus on the lower chakras is what gives red Tiger Eye the power to send higher energies through the organs of the lower half of the body.
