An emerald-green variety of grossular garnet, Tsavorite is one of the most popular and expensive varieties of garnet. As it is a garnet, it is the birthstone for the month of January. Tsavorites are found mainly in Kenya and Tanzania, but also in Pakistan, Canada, Sri Lanka, the former USSR, South Africa and the USA. Tsavorite is a fairly “young” gemstone and came on the market in the ’70’s. Thanks to its great brilliance, tsavorite is, in this respect, a partner to match the classics: diamond, ruby and sapphire, a great gem!
